This bespoke 108 Bead Handmade Affirmation Mala is my representation of Pachamama! Pachamama, or Mother Earth, is a revered goddess of the indigenous people of the Andes. In the Andean Cosmovision, the universe is undifferentiated and unified and so accordingly, Pachamama is an ever-present and independent deity understood as mother earth and nature and its life cycle, who controls fertility, presides over planting and harvesting, and may even be the cause of earthquakes.  
She is still an important aspect of religion in Peru today.  “Pachamama”, as Mother Earth, is also represented by the spiral in the centre of the icon, she connects and provides everything for her people and represents a respectful and spiritual symbol.  In the Andean culture Pachamama is often portrayed as a little old woman who lives underground in the mountains, as well as in vibrant colourful embroidery, such as the lliclla, a woman's shoulder mantle worn in Quechua culture, symbolizing motherhood and femininity as well as the earth's generosity and abundance. Therefore, in making this representation of her within the design for this Mala, I have incorporated many colours, to represent her vibrant and abundant spirit.  I have used crystal beads, and many colourful glass beads and finished it off with a lovely bright metal Mother Goddess motif, encompassing the spiral also.
This bespoke piece measures 30”  (76cms ) the Mother Goddess pendant motif measures 3” x 1.5” and weights 56grms.  Please note: This is my interpretation of this particular Mala, I do not "charge" the necklaces, unless requested so please remember:
