The Rosary is an ancient devotional item, originally made as flower garlands, representing a connection between the spiritual and the earth, serving as a tool for mindfulness and spiritual balance. Rosaries have been made from seeds, wood and stones, today we use beads. Spirit of Knockmany Rosaries are made following a traditional design with my unique interpretation. Crafted to embody deep spirituality and to reflect sacredness, each element I choose, from colours, materials, natural crystals and symbolic charms, are chosen to create a divine atmosphere prompting you to use them often.
For this special piece I have used mainly beads from the Santalwood Tree, interpsersed with polished black onxy, a few frosted balck touramaline, and a few smaller beads in black obsidian. For the focal beads I have incorporated a couple of electroplated gold hematite, one electroplated gold quartz chunk and finished with a relly nice gold toned metal Ankh. The contrasting golden elements lift the piece to another level I feel.
An ancient symbol, the Ankh has such a beautiful rich history and holds so much meaning. The Ankh, a teardrop-shaped hoop with a cross connected directly below, is an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol representing "life," commonly known as the “key of life", dating back to the Early Dynastic Period (c. 3150–2613 BCE). During the first century, as the Christian gospel spread throughout Egypt and the Nile Valley, Coptic and Nubian Christians used the symbol of the Ankh (already thousands of years old) to reinterpret their newly found Christian faith. By the 4th century CE, early Coptic Christians adopted the symbol as a variant of the Christian cross, representing Christ's promise of everlasting life. Known to signify immortal life, the union of heaven and earth, and the balancing of opposing forces (like male and female) it embodies the essence of the human condition and represents the profound existential questions we all consider about life and death.
The sandalwood tree holds deep spiritual significance, primarily representing purity, inner peace, and divine connection. Across various cultures it symbolizes the elevation of the soul and is often associated with promoting spiritual growth. The wood of the Sandalwood tree is frequently used in spiritual practices such as making prayer beads (malas and rosaries), its aromatic wood and oil are used to make incense, and sacred paste (chandan) for rituals. Sandalwood has many benefits. It is believed to promote grounding, clear negative energy, help quiet the mind and calm nervous tension, as well as elevate conscious awareness, bringing one’s attention back to the present moment thereby aiding in deep prayer, meditation and contemplation. If you have any Sandalwood incense, burning it is said to disperse negative energy and purify a space, creating a harmonious and sacred atmosphere for prayer and meditation, wonderful. Black onyx symbolizes grounding and inner strength. Black Tourmaline is another powerful grounding stone, primarily used for spiritual protection, shielding against negative energy and electromagnetic smog. Black Obsidian connects to the root chakra; it is highly prized as a stone for absorbing negativity and promoting emotional balance and acts as a "psychic shield". Hematite is also a grounding crystal and the electroplated gold quartz, where gold is bonded to the surface of the quartz, merges the master healer properties of quartz with the enlightenment and success energy of gold, fabulous! The Ankh itself is bright gold tone metal, the gold further symbolizing purity, divinity, permanence, and prosperity, often associated with the sun, immortality, and enlightenment. What an interesting and power piece.
The Rosary will be supplied in a presentation box, with a pouch for safekeeping and a printout of my thoughts and feelings on this particular Rosary and the elements chosen. However, do remember, “The Greater Guide is Within”
